Or is there any way that I can protect my files on a USB memory stick?
Right clicking and selecting Sharing and Security only offers me the option to share (which is the opposite of what I want to do).

If I open the drive and select Sharing and Security on individual files, there is an option to Make This Folder Private, but it is greyed out and cannot be selected.

Any ideas please. Thanks in advance.

Ah, Ron M, there will always be people like you who take things so literally, content with their little minds in their simple worlds that they themselves are doing what is asked of them.
If I said, pull your socks up, you actually would, wouldn't you. Bless.

Of course, with the USB drive that I currently have I have been using StompSoft's Portable Vault software. This allows me to not only password protect the files on the drive but it also encrypts them as well. More informaiton can be found here:

If you are not Win 7 Ultimate or Enterprise user, you can only use third party USB security software to password protect files on your USB memory stick.

Not all USB sticks feature a lock feature on the stick itself, but Windows XP contains various methods of securing your operating system against unauthorized drive access. You can find the options in Administrative Tools under "Program Access and Defaults" I believe.

Some usb sticks actually come with software to encrypt/password proctect the files on the usb stick if yours has this software I recommend using it. If not you can put an access control password from inside the os your using.
