this one actually got me thinking nd i thought coz infinite goes on forever then taking one away would still be infinite but what do u think? ^_^

If infinity is not finite, then to subtract any number is meaningless, as the infinite cannot be reduced by the finite. However, one makes the assumption that the infinite is both transcendent and everlasting, as well as bein pan-directional.

A numerical system assumes that numbers are quantifiable, i.e. that there is an eventual limit to whatever we are enumerating, be it grains of rice or microbes.

Furthermore, it is argued that we live in an expanding Universe (however, I ask the question,'in to what is it expanding?). If the Universe is expanding, then any subtraction from the infinite would be counteracted by the expansion of the Universe, unless that contraction exceeded the rate of expansion of the Universe, but such a process would negate natural law and would produce a vacuum and thus, is theoretically impossible.

Kierkegaard and Wittgenstein would be the obvious (tor)mentors for such a question. Stephen Hawkings excellent genius maye also help. If all else fails, try your God.

Infinity has many paradoxes. You can subtract, add, multiply or divide, but it's still infinity. Hibert gave a thought problem. Suppose we have an infinite hotel with an infinite number of guests in it. Then, an infinite number of people arrive seeking rooms. What to do? Just move the alternate guests to different rooms, e.g. vacate rooms 2,4,6,8...etc., and you have enough empty rooms for the new guests. There are different levels of infinity. Hilbert expressed them by aleph, the first Hebrew letter. He found aleph, aleph 2 and aleph 3. I won't go any further with this, for I trust that I've answered your question.

If you say what is infinite minus 1, then it's just "Infinity minus 1" or " ∞ - 1 "

Yep, that's true. 1 would be a Constant and all Constants get swallowed up by Infinity.

In Calculus when you work with Integrals, you can't determine what Constant is so you just add "+C" to the Integral.

Infinity meens forever. It is not a number. If you use it as a number it meens "Never ending chain of numbers" It wil go on forever and never stop. Therefore there is no such way to minus infinity.
