Not in this day. The last bachelor U.S.President was elected some time in the 19th century. Since then, women have attained the right to vote which they were denied until around 1920. Moreover, we've had the sexual revolution and the feminists have gotten some credence since around 1970. So we've got 100+ percent more potential voters, large sectors of whom will, just out of human nature, vote for a man WITH a woman in his life over a man WITHOUT one, all other things being equal (which they're not, anyway, in politics). With all those factors, electing a bachelor U.S. President is about as likely as pigs learning to fly.

Yes, you can be unmarried to run for Presidency. The fifteenth President of the United States, James Buchanan, was unwed, and so his niece, Harriet Lane, played the role of the First Lady.

Yes an unmarried man can be U.S. president and it has happened in the past -- But the White House is never First Lady-free that role is taken on by a niece, sister or the somethng.

I doubt it. To be President you need to be reasonably tall, married, and pretend to be a Christian of some kind. Voters are looking for a traditional family in the White House. I could be wrong, but I doubt you are ever going to see a bachelor as US President.
If you want to see the British equivalent, watch the movie Love Actually. It's a chick flick, but there is plenty of funny moments to keep men interested too.

One reason why married presidents are so common is because it gives off a good vibe to the public. It makes it seem like the guy's a family man, and those kind of values are important to a lot of Americans.

Andrew Jackson was a married to a divorcee, but I believe Buchanan was single. Today, I seriously doubt it, as a single 50 yr old in the USA is deemed to be gay, whether or not that is true. Anyone who succeeds in getting to middle age without entrapment MUST have something wrong with him! ;-}

Yes. But the general consensus is that a family man is a more stable and well balanced individual. I think this is an unfair assessment, but that's the way of the world, unfortunately.
