NO diet pills really work. Read the labels carefully...they ALL say the same thing. Something along the lines of "if you take this pill with a calorie-reduced diet and regular exercise, you MAY lose weight." Even the so-called natural ones carry dangers with them that are not worth it.
You must have the calorie-reduced diet and exercise, and those two things will be just as effective, if not MORE effective if you don't have the weird chemicals in diets pills coursing through your system, causing heart, kidney, and liver problems. At best, the pills are a waste of money. At worst, you can suffer really awful health problems.
There's only one safe way to lose weight effectively, and that is to eat a LITTLE less (by 200-400 calories) than the amount of calories you need to use in a day. If you eat too much less, you body goes into fat storage mode, and any attempts at starving yourself will backfire, as you will get fat quickly again when you start eating again. The diet pills can have the same effect, in that they stop your body from having a normal metabolism, which is really bad news for your health, even if you are exercising and eating healthy.

Weight loss pills are widely advertised as a quick method to lose weight. These are food supplements and are not regulated by the FDA or any authority. Some weight loss pills may help you lose weight for a short time, but after a month or so, the body becomes immune to them.I found information on weight loss pills and their side effects at http://www.toloseweight.org/weightlosspill.html

Listen/read carefully: there IS no such thing as a safe, effective diet pill! In order to lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you eat. It really is that simple! That means that boring old diet and exercise is still how you do it. There are some herbs that can suppress appetite -but they ALL have DANGEROUS side effects! Don't be so foolish as to believe someone who pretends that since they're "natural" they can't hurt ya. Hemlock is a natural herb, and look what it did to Socrates!

Start her out walking everyday. And something that is good is drink a tablespoon of black vinegar with a glass of water after every meal. It is better than a diet pill. If her stomach can tolerate it.

DIET PILLS THAT YOU FIND IN THE STORES ARE STIMULANTS AND NOT GOOD FOR YOUR BODY. MAYBE TRY SOME AGE OLD HERBS. YOU CAN GO TO NATURES REMEDIES ON THE INTERNET. THEY WILL BE ABLE TO HELP YOU. DIET AND EXERCISE IS THE BEST REMEDY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE BECAUSE YOU WILL LEARN GOOD HABITS THAT WILL STICK WITH YOU. WHEN YOU USE DIET PILLS YOU START GAINING THE WEIGHT AS SOON AS YOU COME OFF OF THEM. WHEN YOUR WEIGHT FLUCTATES UP AND DOWN, AS YOU GET OLDER YOU CANT GET THE WEIGHT OFF ANY MORE AND WILL HAVE TO RESORT TO DRASTIC THINGS AS THE GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY. PLEASE BE CAREFUL.

I would suggest her going to the doctor, and getting a prescribed medication. I have Phentermine, and that is pretty good....kills the appetite, and really keeps your momentum going.
