all of a sudden today my finger nail hurts alot. if i press on it or lightly touch it its pretty painful. it feels like i slammed it in a car door but i didnt do anything. what is it?

Well maybe a blood vessle broke but the blood was held further bath were you can't see.That happend a lot to people with bloody noses.If you can afford a doctor,you better see one now!

I don't know if you are wearing fake acrylic nails but they have been known to promote the growth of fungus under the nail and cause pain.....if not have you recently clipped the nail and it may be "in grown" like you can get on your feet. if the pain persists see a Dr!

There may be something stuck deep down under your nail like some kind of dirt or something. Try clipping it or just simply cleaning it out.

hunny see a dpoctor to be sure i recently had a problem and before long i had somethign yellow groing under my finger and now i am missing 755 of my thumb nail and hoping it grows back in its scarey dear
