Can I record from a keyboard to a cassette player without any other equipment?

I wrote a verse and a melody but want to play and record it on a blank cassette from my musicsource (not connected to recorder) to the cassette tape in the player. The cassette supposedly has a built in mic. Whe I press record and then stop and rewind and play, nothing is on the tape. I have never tried doing this before and need some help. What step am I missing? Do I need additional equipment? This has nothing to do with a computer.

make certain volume is max on recorder.

use a plug-in mic

does unit record your voice ok?

let me know itcan be done. sound quality will not be the best, but it will be there.
