The last answer is totally wrong. Many bikes have electronic cruise just like a car, Honda Goldwing and H-D Ultra are just two models. I would never blame a stuck throttle for an accident. If the rider has any skills at all, pull in the clutch or hit the engine kill switch. This will slow the bike. Sorry about your loss.

Cruise control on a motorcycle isn't the same as a vehicle. A car's cruise control is electronically controlled to maintain the speed of the vehicle, and turns off automatically when the brakes are pressed. It's a fully enclosed, expensive, complex system.

A motorcycle cruise control is an aftermarket clamp or lever that is installed onto the throttle grip, and the rider must physically lock and unlock it as needed. It does NOT disengage automatically, and if it is being used during a panic situation the rider will NOT be able to close the throttle.

I am truly sorry to hear about your boyfriend, and sorry to hear that all the protective gear and full face helmet he was OF COURSE wearing didn't save him. Cruise control on a motorcycle is bad news, in my opinion, as it prevents the rider from operating the most important control on a bike in an emergency.

I have a 2006 HD Softail, is has a thumb screw type control, which allows a rider to fix the throttle to slow the return or lack their of on decelleration, when cruising on long roadtrips. Harley Davidson in their owners manual, states not to tighten it so tight as to have no throttle return to an idel speed. (Disclaimer).
He may have done this anyway, not all riders follow the manufactures suggestions.

I don't know what year your bike is, so you'll have to do a web search for "motorcycle recalls". There are a lot of sites.
