I'm out-of-town for the moment and I wanted to know how I can efficiently utilize a proxy server in my current location. I'm trying to use Yahoo! Messenger (or MSN Messenger, Trillian, etc...) so I can talk to my family back home, except the stupid DNS Server here (it's a free WIFI Hotspot...) is blocking all access to ANY messenger service, saying that "all user-defined access is prohibited."
Damnit, I'm getting pissed off now. I don't necessarily feel like hauling my webcam all the way to the internet cafe and INSTALLING it for crying out loud. Of course, I could take the laptop with me... but it's closed right now. There's a huge gap between time zones from my family to me. The only time we can talk is either LATE at night for them... or LATE at night for me.
The WIFI hotspot is the only place that's pretty much open 24/7... except I can't get through!!
I have the Charon software, which sniffs out proxy servers from internet search sites... and I also have Mozilla firefox
