Especially at night time, I sometimes hear a high pitched sound - you know the kind that electrical equipment makes? Here's the kicker: I unplug all electric stuff at night.

Do you hear it too? Or is it Just me?

I know what you mean. It is not necesarrily tinitus, but it is the blood that flows through the tiny veins in your ears. Because it is inside the ear and possibly there is some pressure on the veins, this sound appears so high pitched. It might be that it is always there, but at night when it is quiet, you are more likely to notice it.

A high pitched ringing in the ear can be tinnatus - a condition of the inner ear, may be worth while having your ears checked - another possibility would be that you're imagining it as you dont like silence??

Scientifically, sounds are reverberations or echoes, maybe there is something in your room that makes a small noise but you can only hear it when there are no other noises drowning it out.

It's called Tinnitus. It's a false signal being sent by the nerves in your ear, especially after being abused with loud sounds. But it happens to almost everyone eventually.

Yeah I hear it too - but the funny / weird thing is ... my dog DOESN'T hear it! Yet they can hear higher pitched sounds than us!! So why don't they go crazy at it?!?!?!
I was about to suggest electrical products, but seen as you unplug them thats more weird! Although the "rays" could still be in the air? I dunno but I wish it wouldn't happen!

Its not just you, it's actually your brain slowing down after a long day. It is just in your head and I suggest reading a good book before you go to sleep, this helps your brain slow down slower and will give you a better nights sleep.

You sure you haven't got tinitinitus (constant high pitched ringing in the ears)

the high piched noise is either tinitis or a childrens toy or it can very well be a ghostly noise from the afterlife trying to keep you awake,if all else fails get an exorcist in.
