If either partner has any STDs, those STDs may be transmitted through oral sex. If we're talking about women performing fellatio, it is especially dangerous if she has any open cuts or sores inside her mouth. However, if both partners are in a monogamous relationship and are definitely STD-free (ie they had a full check-up six months after ending their previous sexual relationship and have kept their eyes open for untestable STDs like herpes) there should be no danger to either partner.
As for the taste, every man and woman is different. Some taste like chocolate, some taste like sour milk. Some love swallowing, some hate it.

Cant say about taste, women may not like it generally, especially since it shoots straight up to the back of your throat inducing vomiting type sensation

if he is clear of stds, it is perfectly safe to swallow, if you're not sure about his stds, i would swallow if you have a cold sore or cut in your mouth.
taste varies, if he recently had meat, then it will taste bitter, if he recently had pinapple or other fruits, then it has a sweeter taste.
generally its not a bad taste, after a while you get used to it

No, if you have HIV. But yes if not. I like the taste you should try yours. Eat lots of fruit to make it taste better.

It's safe as long as he doesn't have any diseases that would be transmitted. As far as the taste, I wouldn't say it's undersirable.

Provided he has no STD (especially Hepatitis or HIV) it is safe enough.
