Yes, to a certain degree. It all depends on what it is. If it's in the workplace then I'd say yes...absolutely. If it's little league baseball or something similar then I think that it should be regulated. I've seen little boys, especially, get so competitive that its sickening.

It depends, but I think it is more bad then good. If you set expectations that you need to meet and do better everytime, you are setting yourself up for failure. No one can ALWAYS be the best. There will always be someone better, and not as good, as you.

its not bad for someone to want to be the best they can be. to be better than anyone else i dont think is too cool. it will never happen anyway, no matter how good you are at something, you can always find someone better.

It's not necessarily bad but it probably isnt the best. Anybody can work hard and succeed. The real test is when you lose but you are able to pick yourself back up and keep going.

It is not bad
unless your
way of achieving
best is at the
'expense' of
someone or
something else.
In other words,
be first, but
fair and square.

Otherwise, it
will catch up
with you.

So, go for it
to the best of
your abilities!

Striving to be a perfectionist can lead to social dysfunction. It is fine to want to excel in what you do, or to be the best at some things. But no one can be the best at everything he does.

No, too many people settle for mediocrity as it is.
It doesn't take any effort to achieve mediocrity...it just happens.
To strive to be the best...for personal excellence requires committment and work!

No it's not, but, if that person get's his nickers in a twist when at some point there is somebody better at something, then it is bad. (My husband's saying: There is always somebody younger or smarter.)
