For a 650+ Hp Dodge Ram Cummings Turbodiesel (modified engine with a racing tranny, not pulling) to beat a 309 Hp V8 Firebird in the quarter mile?

It's possible. There are some other factors involved. I have seen turbodiesel put the hurt on some pretty quick little Hondas. You haven't lived until you've seen a diesel pickup do the 1/8 mile in 8 seconds.

No way, diesels take too long to get wound up, especially with the turbo lag. That gas V-8 would kill you off the line, and I don't think 1/4 mile is long enough distance to make that back up, maybe a 1/2 mile ;-).

Maybe, the Firebird has a much better horsepower to weight ratio.
