We INVADED Iraq...then occupied it, under false pretense (no WMD's). We REMAIN there under false pretense (Saddam had no connection to Bin Laden OR 9-11).

Over 100 thousand Iraqi civilians have been killed so far.

We humiliated Islam with our soldiers stunts at the abu Grahib prison.

Many Iraqis who loved us before, have now changed their minds.

Insurgent attacks against Iraqis have increased, and become much more violent.

All that being said, now the Pope verbally attacks Islam, without apology. Hard to believe he could be so stupid, so there is the possibilty he did it on purpose. Maybe Bush's REAL intentions are to do just the same, and rev up for a much bigger war. Newt Gingrich has already stated that we are in World War III, and that Bush should admit it.

One thing is clear: EVERY reason Bush has given for this war so far has proven to be false. Obviously, he DOES have a reason, but has no intention of telling us what it is, or he would have right from the start. Strange how his supporters defend him, even after all his reasons have proven false. HOW is it patriotic to attack a country for no VALID, CONCRETE, or CONSISTENT reason?

And to the guy above me, it's quite ironic to be discussing the U.S. defending liberty, when Bush's Patriot Act seriously diminished ours. If it's Bush's intent to provide freedom to Iraq, he's failed miserably so far. From what I understand, he has also failed miserably in providing our soldiers all of the proper equiptment and protections for them to at least get this job done as quickly and safely as possible.

Yes, terrorism is a threat. But how in God's name is attacking Iraq helping that situation? How is diminishing our civil rights, liberties, and protections against unfair treatment by our own government, and our right to due process, protecting OUR liberty, and every ideal America has historically come to represent? Without them, we are living one big American lie...CALLING political oppression "freedom" doesn't change the fact that it's oppression. The so-called "War on Terror" brought us the Patriot Act, which served no purpose other than to protect our GOVERNMENT from US...and doesn't protect US from ANYTHING.

First, we attack because of WMD's. Oh, there aren't any. Ok, well then let's break up this Saddam/Osama connection. Oh, there isn't one. Ok, so let's fight terrorism here. Oh, well that's really a worldwide problem. Ok, then let's fight for Iraqi's to have freedom. Next week, we'll think of something else, after last week's news of the 60 found tortured and executed, thanks to our unifying presence.

Who's going to fight to get back OUR FREEDOM, and burn the Patriot Act?

Son, we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? Russia? France? The US has a greater responsibility than it critics can possibly fathom. They weep for Saddam and curse the US. They have that luxury. They have the luxury of not knowing what the US knows: that unseating Saddam, while tragic, probably saved lives. And the existence of the US, while grotesque and incomprehensible to it critics, saves lives. Deep down, in places they don't talk about at parties, they want the US defending liberty. They need them on that wall.
The US use words like honor, freedom, liberty...it uses these words as the backbone to an existence spent defending something. They use 'em as a punchline. The US has neither the time nor the inclination to explain the it actions to a fools who rise and sleep under the blanket of the very freedom the US provides, then questions the manner in which they provide it! The Us would rather they just said thank you and went on their way. Otherwise, they should pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, the US doesn't give a damn what they think!

If the price of liberty is eternal vigilance then let all nations stand a watch.

Liberally borrowed from a few good men :) What else needs to be said?

I think we have the same enemies. that we always had i do not think we really gained any more then what we had already.
DO not forget who attack who first we did not go after the iraqis we went after the people who attack us and who had part in the attacks we did this to protect ourselves.

America will always have enemies and those who are grateful to us. We are a super power...it goes with the territory. We do not have the luxury to sit back and watch things unfold. If we didn't take the action that we do, the Liberals would not have a country to live in...we'd be blown to smithereens. It is impossible to explain to the far left how crucial it is to always be on alert and to always be ready to defend our interests. So many people, usually the idealistic young, think that if we leave people alone, they will go away;we'll live in our own little universe. It just isn't so. Sad to say,but that's not how evil behaves. It does not go quietly away. If you don't get involved, it spreads.

The United States has more enemies now than before attacking Iraq. We went into the war too fast and with little proof that this would be a justified war.

Now and lots more and that's just what the enemy planned when they tricked us (not just the president) into this war. When they have worn us down, China will probably attack Thailand and this will start the real WW3.
