Way to often someone puts a throttle locker on there bike as a cheap cruse controll, they also have a (paddle thing) that they put on the throttle that lets them just rest there hand on the throttle grip which will hold it open instead of having to grip it and twist it to keep the throttle open, both of these can make the throttle stay open if used improperly or by a in-experienced rider, very seldom dose a throttle stick open, even if it did there is a eng. kill switch right on the handle bar by the right thumb and pulling in the clutch will disconnect the eng. from the drive line and allow the motorcycle to stop. Unfortunately it was probably driver error.

Flower, help us out a little. What's the year, make and model of your bike. It'll help us to find out if there were any recalls or similar problems with that model. Also how many miles were on the bike at the time of the accident and when it was last serviced (mileage wise). Road, weather, traffic and visibility conditions.

What accident.
if you accidently pressed on the gas instead of the brake I'd say YUP
If it is a taurus 2000 - 2004 there was a recall due to spacing issues...
