birdsnakecat,
you are SOOOO wrong. Agribusiness treats animals as if they were already dead. Open your eyes. Or is this the lie I should tell to myself to make me feel better as well.
The only difference between your opinion and mine is that I have fact to back me up, you have wishful thinking.... doesn't count for much but the truth is out there, seek and ye shall find.......

Capitalism. American's RIGHT to get rich at anyone's expense. Profit is king...to heck with animal, worker, or citizen's rights. Our government caters to lobbyists, not to us. We've been trained not to care, however. People DON'T WANT to know what Kentucky Fried Chicken does to it's chickens. They just want to get fat, watch TV, and run up their credit card bills like good little materialistic consumers. Responsibilty is boring.

The whole Agri-Business situation has gotten way too out of hand. Like all big business, it's based on greed. The old days of the family farm are gone for good. Now with the genetic modification of food, we're entering uncharted territory. How much longer will we be able to feed ourselves? Our only hope is to get back to growing our own food. Concentrate more on eating less meat, and more plant products. Genetic diversity must be maintained by growing heirloom crops.

There are still family farms, my friend actually works on one, but i understand what you mean. The thing is that the US has taken the role as the head of the world. Because of this we are feeding so many other countries that you would be surprised to find out. Since we are feeding all of these countries we need better, faster, and more efficient ways to farm, in order to provide for the demand of food.

Farming is between the most heavily sponsored industries in u . s ., and the massive bulk of those subsidies do not bypass to mom and dad farms, they bypass to production unit-form generators, and the only best recipient of those are the beef factories which take care of their livestock atrociously. yet in case you want an party of a Republican who hostile farm subsidies, Texas Rep. Ron Paul has always voted hostile to farming subsidies regardless of almost 60% of his district being rural farmers. even as requested why he blocks farming subsidies to his district, Dr. Paul is frank: he explains how those farming subsidies that pretend to serve them are easily catalysts for his or her destruction. they could bypass to the nicely appropriate and leave the small time farmers at a distinct monetary draw back. Us small-authorities varieties have a attractiveness for a Republican who loves subsidies, company welfare, vast banking, borrowing and spending, guns, bombs, and Jesus: a Rockefeller Republican.

Farm animals are well taken care of.
They have a good life, except for being eaten by you and me.
Don't pay any attention to those "animal rights freaks".

Welcome to capitalism. If there is enough demand, the business will exist. Look at the demand for food. Most people do not care, but there are a lot of people who do and there are stores thriving because of it.
