Which horn instrument is the easiest to learn? Sax, alto sax, trumpet, french horn?

I like to learn to play a horn instrument, currently learning trumpet, but it is difficult. What is easier alto sax, sax, french horn? Which one you can play alone without accompany instrument?

Of the ones you name, the saxophone would be the easiest. Of course, we are still comparing instruments that are hard to learn no matter what, but it would be the easiest of the three. All three can be played with an accompanying instrument.

Alto sax is probably the best choice. If you learn that, then you can play about any sax. And maybe the clarinet, although the fingering is a little different. French horn is OK, but not a solo instument. Trumpet can lead to other instuments, but doens't have the range of the woodwinds. Whatever you choose, enjoy!

Everyone is different, and it all depends on what's easiest for you. First, take a mouthpiece from each instrument. Blow on each one, and find which one is most comfortable to you. Use this method to choose your instrument.

In the 5th grade, this is how my decision was made. I told the music teacher that I wanted to play saxophone. He let me try out the mouthpiece...nothing. He gave me a trumpet mouthpiece, and told me to try it. He said that my mouth was best suited for a brass instrument, and the rest was history...I played trumpet through the rest of high school.
