I'd really like to host a foreign exchange student, but I was wondering if there was an organization that has profiles for the people willing to do it. Help's appreciated!

Most people don't do this independently, but go through organizations. The organizations don't want it to be a free market system (can you imagine? Only the attractive would get to study abroad because hosts wouldn't want the others!), because that wouldn't be fair. So they tend to assign you a student according to a match of a few basic characteristics.
