A teacher is a facilitator of learning for students. The teacher provides a way for students to learn to think and learn for themselves. A teacher also is a role model, friend, and extra parent to students.

A good teacher must explain and teach the material in a way that all students can understand.
A good teacher must model appropriate behavior and be someone that a student can turn to with a serious problem.
The teacher has many responsibilities aside from teaching. We must play the role of social worker if we suspect abuse. We must break up fights, protect our students from bomb threats and practice lock downs. We must spot children who seem depressed and refer them for services and identify learning problems.

A teacher encourages his or her students to learn for themselves. A teacher guides, leads patiently and respectfully, invites curiosity, helps students to seek the best and to grow as tall as they can in this jungle we live in - to stand high and strong and to conquer and overcome obstacles. A good teacher reminds students that nothing is impossible if they believe in themselves and hope for a bright and positive future.
The best teacher is one who also joyfully learns much from the students.
