I think a card is sufficient. You could get her a little thing of flowers if you wish.

Just be there for her. You don't have to say anything in particular. I would wait to see if she has it and then if she wants to talk about it, you can. I know it is contagious so I pray she doesn't have it.

Talk to her like you would any other time. Don't be afraid of her. I work in a hospital and when patients are sick they want as much normalcy as they can get. When you are in the hospital you lose a lot of privacy and you do not get much sleep. You could just watch TV with her or just sit with her. She is still the same person you met.

You are a sweet friend to inquire about what to do or say to her. It shows you care. Give her a hug for me. Everyone needs a hug now and again.

Just tell her no matter what the test say you will be there for her no matter what. That is the best thing you can give her and say. Just be there for her she will need a friend to be with her that she can talk to and listen to her also. Maybe when you are sitting with her in the hospital you can bring up some funny stories that you too had done. Like pranks or other funny things that happen when you guys were together.

I just had surgery a week ago and am now on bed rest...

I would ask her if there's anything she needs or wants that you can get for her, or ask her if there's anything (an errand, etc...) that you can do for her.

If she doesn't want anything specific, please get your friend a book - puzzle book or reading book - that will entertain her while she is laid up. Magazines are also great. Balloons or flowers are always good, as are stuffed animals.

In her card, just write honestly. Tell her that you hope she is back to her old self in no time and that you hate seeing her like this.

First of all this is the entertainment section. Secondly, if your friend possibly has spinal meingitis she should be under quarantine and you should not be allowed to visit because it is very contagious.
Send a card and a puzzle book or something she can do while there via the nurses and stay out of her room until it is verified that she is not contagious.

Well, if she has to stay in there then magazines are great! Get her a few different ones like a gossip one, a hair and makeup one (like Allure) and Cosmo is always popular with us girls! SOME hospital rooms have VCRs and DVD players so maybe you could take her some movies to watch if she's feeling up to it. Just anything you can give her or let her borrow to make her feel more at home! Hope she gets well soon!

Just be there for her, Because that's what friends do. Alot of people avoid that kind of situation because it's uncomfortable. As long as you visit she'll remember that longer then anything else. You can get her a cute little stuff animal or something that will always remind her that you were there for her when alot of her friends probably weren't.

Get her a cute stuffed toy that says something cute about being friends for example when I was sick my friend got me a bear that says "Friends are flowers that never fade away" on it on the card you can just say a simple "Thinking of you" is fine

Flowers would be nice. Just tell her that you miss her and hope she will be feeling better soon. Meningitis is a very serious disease.
