Why don't you fence in the area under your deck with cheap lattice, stained to match? It will give the area a more finished look, and they won't be able to get in anymore. You could even grow moonflowers or another vine against it, so that the barrier looks natural.

First, be sure you're not violating state law by trapping the beasts! It's usually best to hire a professional wildlife rehabilitator or a licensed trapper to remove 'em all. Once that's done, you need to deny future access to the area. That's usually accomplished by installing a barrier such as hardware cloth (ask at your local building supply store) and a buried barrier that won't permit 'em to tunnel under the upright barrier. This is a job for a contractor unless you or somone willing to help you has lots of experience in building houses and decks and such structures. I'd hire a contractor - at least that way you'll have a warrantee if the critters manage to get back under there anyway. Be sure you tell the contractor WHY you want the area enclosed before he or she begins the job!

you can do what my son did for years...I couldn't figure out why the raccoons were standing at my glass front door for a year...they seemed to want to make friends. We lived on a river and what i didn't know was that my son was fishing everyday and putting the fish up on the tin roof for the raccoons. (we heard them every night in the middle of the night).....learn to love them and feed your cats indoors.....all of nature is wonderful...

Isn't there some sort of repellant at Menards or Lowes or something? Try hot sauce, supposed to work for indoor pets. I dont know if it will work for coons. Maybe put some sort of barrier around your deck so they can't get underneath.

Watch the movie RV with Robin Williams. That's how you get rid of raccoons.
Just kidding. You could get a big dog. Even if he's tied up he'll bark everytime he sees a raccoon, even if he's in a cennal he might scare the raccons away just by barking.

you'll think i'm crazy but try mothballs. my brother and sister-in law had a raccoon problem getting into flowers on their deck. someone told them try placing mothballs around the area. they did, and the raccoons never came back.
