have a deere rear engine mower with peerless 5 sp 915 transaxle will not move, will any other transaxle fit ?

There's a good possibility. Look in the yellow pages for mower repair and parts places. Have your model number ready and give it to them. They'll know what parts can be interchanged. They might even have an old one around.
