Actually, you should look into donating it. There are many great programs out there that refurbish even the oldest of computers to give to underprivileged kids or schools. It might even be a tax break for you!

You should be able to ... depends on how old it is and how heavy it is ... if you can't do it, get someone else to help you. Two of you certainly should be able to throw it in the garbage.

No you should recycle it. Too much lead and other toxic waste in old computers.

See the following site:

Only $10 to get rid of a PC.

No. There are a lot of charitable organizations that recyle them for cash, though and they also scrub them of your private data for you. Check it out on the internet. You get rid of a burden and help a charity at the same time.

well, its hard to say, if its hard drive totally blank (magnet wiped, broken ect) then go right ahead, however if it is intact, then somone might take it and find some data that you'd rather they not know. my sugestion is take a hammer to it (or other demolition tool of your choice) or have it wiped with a software program (comp usa sell stuff like this) and then dispose of it. (you might get a few $$ on ebay)

as a major pc seller, under federal law, you are not permitted to throw a old computer or any pc device in the trash, its a environmental law passed. there are fines if you are caught dumping it, either take it to a recyle center or the goodwill will take it. or give it away to someone.

Here in Charlotte (NC) we have rules about waste. Either call you city waste management office and ask or see if they have a site on-line. There are also some places who accept them as a donation and refurbish them. I think Goodwill is one of them.
