The silver lining would be that humankind would be given another chance, after experiencing all these suffering, to re-model the world and hopefully not fall into the same "boat" of becoming greedy, selfish, short-sighted...

Yes....after the radiation has settled down, the chance to build a better city, and society, taking the knowladge of the good and bad points of the old one, and starting from scratch.

It's a metaphorical cloud, my friend. It therefore doesn't really exist, and can't be touched or seen. We will never know whether it has a lining (or what color it is). Ever.

depends who for? The one in WW2 had a silver lining for the Americans - it did what they wanted it to do just not for the poor Japanese civilians.
