I would like to network 2 computers together and share an ethernet connection instead of connecting through a router, router seems to slow down connection

yes, you can. install the second card. one will be set up for external (internet), the other for internal (where your other pc will connect).

go to network connections in control panel. go to properties (of the card to get out), then advanced. put a check mark in the enable sharing. you may also want to check out the link there for more help & info.

you can also use the Network Setup Wizard (might be easier if you havent done this before)

Yes this can done. However, you will still need either a hub or a cross-over cable.

Most routers don't slow network traffic. Usually it is because the network card can only run at say 10Mb instead of 100Mb or 1 Gb. Most current routers for the home support the higher speeds.

yes you can, if your computer has another slot for yout NIC card, then yeah, it can be done.
