This is kind dump, I think everything (even wires)are important in your PC, if you tell what to check when buying a PC that will be a different question.
1- Processor because that will be the brain
2-Hard drive capacity
3-Memory capacity
4-display

Actually, the processor is the most important hardware. Once you've decided on the processor, then you would choose the motherboard, due to the fact that different chips have different pin configurations. After you choose your chip and motherboard, i would say the hard drive type and size would be next, then RAM amount, then video card type and RAM amount. Hope this helps

the central processing unit (CPU) because without it, you're computer is a doorstopper.. technically its considered the MOST important part, ahead of the motherboard

I think most components are equal in their importance as you can't run the pc without them, such as RAM, CPU, HDD.
