Yes...that so-called conservatives will lead us once again through a period of xenophobic neo-McCarthyism. Too unimaginative and small minded to comprehend anyone different from themselves, they promote forced conformity to their very limited ideal. Somehow, the fact that this is very oppressive thinking, and quite ironically communistic, totally escapes them. They PLAY victim while they attack. They feel their being so easily offended by things they are ignorant of, and fear, is grounds to deny other's civil rights. All that matters is them...and their self-righteous thinking. How totally ironic that most are Christian. Even more ironic is that they constantly quote the (Judaic) Old Testament; you never hear them mention ANYthing Christ said...like don't judge others and love thy brother.

Absolutely - some members of our government learned it's an excellent way to get votes and to promote massive tax spending on unnecessary military projects. All you have to do is suggest that anyone who mentions reality is "supporting the terrorists" - oops, I mean "supporting the communists."
It worked then, and it seems to be working now.

Carter whined and the Reds got nastier.
Reagan got rough and tough and whipped them. They folded up.

Yes - that a lot of the people we thought were spies, really were. And that some people who were participants in communist and socialist activities here in the U.S. were just doing it to be cool.
