Well, I'm a teacher, and I think grades are a dangerous oversimplification of a student's performance. You cannot reduce a whole year of work to a single concept. If I could, I'd get rid of the whole system. I'd leave grades for individual tests, if I couldn't do otherwise, but I'd refuse to say you're an A student, or you're a D student.
Besides, grades are often used by students to compare themselves to others. And that is not the purpose of education. The only person you have to compare yourself to is yourself. You have to be better than you are. Not better than your classmate is.

As an adult student, they are very important to me. I got an 80 and that one made me try harder. all my other ones are 100's and my second lowest is 95. So I think that I am doing pretty good. Considering when I was in high school, I was lucky to get a c on anything. The better my grades are in college, the better I will do in my career, for it shows that I understand what I am trying to learn.

Coming from a student, I think it's very important. Basically how your future turns out depends on your grades. But I'm not saying that it's what your entire life should revolve around. In the real world, street smart is important too.

I'm a college student. My parents expect me to get A's, and I want to graduate. However, I don't think I take my classes as seriously as I should. Grades are pretty important to me, but they aren't the MOST important things in my life right now.

Very important, because to be able to take my boards (I am trying to become a board certified Radiologist) next semester I can't get anything lower than a B+ in any of my classes. So yeah they are very important to me. I am currently an A- student

They are very important...from the students point of view, they determine what kind of college you get into. They can also help you get scholarships and other types of financial aid for school.

I'm a student and I think they're B.S. When you apply for a job, they can't measure your success or motivation just by your grades. I've had classes where professors are horrible and badly taught. When working for companies, motivation is all that matters and I get all this from extracurricual activities.
