I'm talking about nonstop baby crying, and then yelling all of a sudden, "God! I'm so stupid. Nobody likes me. I wish I could just disappear! I just want this to be a dream! I want my mommy" ... continue sobbing and trembling..so much so that he ignores most questions.

For something like possession of marijuana, I imagine the judge would be like, "Hey, comon. Not everyone hates you. Everyone makes mistakes. Hey. Look at me. Look at me! Heeyy... who's a big boy? (defendent starts smiling) "I am?" That's right. What do you say I reduce the sentence down to community service and get you some icecream? I think he's learned his lesson(whispering to baliff).

Has anyone witnessed crying in court? What did the judge say or what was his reaction? Anyone think a lighter sentence was given?

It depends on the judge and how you do it, and when. If you do it at the right time, while thinking back to some horrible past experience to you or someone else, while you are on the stand being questioned, right on cue, it will probably help.
If you just burst out uncontrollably when you are not on the stand, they will probably consider you an emotional basket case.

The Judge should have told the attorney to control the client. This type of behavior angers Judges beyond belief - they usually have the person removed from the courtroom or calls a brief recess to let the person get his act together. It does NOT impress a Judge - Judges are there to determine if someone has committed a crime, not to give sympathy to anyone. It's law not psychology.

I have not personally witnessed court room crying, but my gut feeling is that that sort of behavior will help you increase your stay down here in the South!! Just last week a woman in Florida was 'parked in' by a judge (she had parked in his reserved spot before court) and was ordered to spend the morning in his court room.... so sympathy isn't really a hallmark of legal professionals in Florida

OK,True Story Time-You got a court date for being stoned in public. A more likely scenario is, the judge will say,30 days in the hole. Big Bubba needs a piece of fresh meat. 30 days later will you still walk like a man ?Next time keep yer blogs on yer 360 page.

I don't think so. The Judge might tell the person to stop or that'll make some more trouble for them. I think I saw it on television before. The judge was so mad and the scene was kind of funny.

You can actually be removed from the courtroom and charged with contempt of court for this, because the court could be influenced by your behaviour. If your actions could provide grounds for a mistrial, the judge will hand you your a--.

Judges don't care, they can't. They have a job to do and have seen MANY people cry in their court room. This won't help.
