This is an attack on their religion and they have to standup and defend it. The entire Muslim community is getting stereotyped.

No religion is perfect. Every religion has got certain gray areas and everybody knows that. But the difference is, the community and religious leaders have not allowed extremists to take advantage of it.

Many do. A significant number, including scholarly experts on Islam have openly condemned the so called "jihads" of many extremists as being false.
Also, just about every religion has a little "holy war" clause tucked away somewhere.

Jihad is simply a declaration of war. Muslims are not allowed to conduct warfare without religious sanction.
One could also ask why do christians not openly condemn war?
Some bodies do some don't. The same goes for Islam.
If you remember Saddam called for a jihad when he was threatened, but no one came to his aid.

Do you apologize every time you make a mistake or hurt somebody's feelings ? Look into yourself honestly and you will get the answer. Did the Brits condemn the bombings of Dresden which killed thousands of kids and women uselessly ? Not a word since 1945... If one starts to condemn one's own brothers and sisters, like the Jews want us to do, we live in a world of perpetual repentance and guilt... Did the Jews ever condemned the first invasion of Canaan by Moise and Josuah ? Never. Why ? Because everybody on this earth has committed some crime at some stage and it does not mean anything to apologize or condemn. It is self deprecation.

Hello! What is all this 'jihad' stuff. Who has declared 'jihad' on whom? The Muslims of the world are the new whipping boys for 'jihad' 'holy war' and what not. As far as I know no one among the 'wider' Muslim community has declared a 'jihad' against every other religious denomination as is trying to be made out. A few fringe elements have always called their 'war' a holy war. But how are the 'wider' muslims responsible for this and why should they apologise for a few crazies among them. Aren't there equal no. of crazies in other denominations. Take the Israelis, they war in the name of their religion Judaism. Aren't they conducting a 'holy war' or 'jihad' since it is rooted in their religious beliefs.
So to accuse the vast Muslim community of complicit endorsment of 'jihad' is specious. All Muslims need not stand up and apologise for the acts of a few.

Unfortunately today Islam is ruled and dictated by very few religious fanatics. I believe large number of muslims are not in favour of jihad. but they are not able to take head on these very few fanatics who gets upper hand. today quran is totally misinterpreted by few fanatics to their advantage. At the same time since the religion is the only aspect which keeps the muslims united so that they can take on any other religion head on large number of muslims keep silent on jihad.
But unfotunately Jihad word itself is misintepreted and misused to kill mostly innocents which opposed by even true islam.

You are right. However, I somewhat understand the reticence of the peaceful Muslims.
There are growing reports of intimidation of them by the radicals...very similar to how the "good" Germans were intimidated into looking the other way while Jews were being victimized by the Nazis.
So, while there are certainly some that at least privately support the actions of the terrorists, there are a significant amount of others who are staying quiet...out of fear...fear of personal harm, and at the very least, fear of ostracism from their community.

Ideally stating Muslims hate any war or jihad. unfortunately the muslim political/religious leaders want jihad. These are the people they should first stage jihad and get rid of them. Then you see every muslims will be lovable person and socially responsible and all can live without fear.

They are all not bold . Not that all of them approve of it . But is it is in the Kuran (para9 of chapter 29). People were not following it But some terrorists have taken advantage of the command in the Kuran is engaing themselves in teh acts of violence and destruction. even people who are not in favour of it are keeping silent for fear of reprisal and fatwa by the cerain pervert religous leaders . it is all done for popularity and imporantce among thecommunity . They can not speak against the command in theKurn. Even the most literate among them who are claiming that he religon does not preach violence are not bold e=nough toospeak anything about this particular command tha ti sincongruent and irrelvenat to the times. But still they want people to accept the religon as a religon of peace .They have to do something to redeem the image of the religion that is being tarnished by the fundamentalist terrorists . Now they are converting the religion to make it synonimous with terrorism.. The community should restrain them. Lest time will solve the problem in its own way.

Because jihad does not necessarily mear war or violence, it means different things to the majority of Muslims. Only to the fanatics does it mean 'holy war'.
Only when Christians can control their own fanatics, will they possibly have a right to condemn others.
