the more you are informed, the greater the knowledge.
knowledge when used properly leads to wisdom. put wisdom into your daily life and that's prudence.
the thing is... a person ought to allow or open himself up to a life-long learning, and of course, growth.
for instance, a kindergarten learns abc's and 1-10's. knowing these simple basics, he gets ready for a higher learning. he steps up to primary, intermediate and on and on. then, he begins to think that there is something he can do with his life. so, he gets into college to earn a degree that would equip him to make his dreams come true. then, he lands his first job and establishes a level of stability, competence and efficiency. then, he gets to a higher phase. some go to leadership and then for some years, he retires from work and enjoys his benefits as a senior citizen.
man is equipped with such capacity to do the things he wants to do with his life. and no one can decide for himself. he has to choose his path.
the kind and amount of knowledge he has gotten along the way would surely determine the kind of life he's gonna be having.

Knowing how to do things will get you jobs, knowing how to do them well will get you advanced in your career. You can save a lot of money if you can do things on your own rather than pay somebody to, for example, change your car's oil or sparkplugs. If you know a little about law you can avoid a lot of pitfalls, you can also take advantage of some situations. A little bit of knowledge about economics will help guide a person to better investment decisions. Even if its something as mundane as knowing what the weather's likely to be can help you plan a trip or a day at the beach. Knowledge IS power!

Well, a good example is that whoever has the knowledge of what this statement means has the power of getting an A. If you can't figure it out, then you will not get a good grade.
The more you know, the better chance you have of getting a one up on other people.
When the Europeans came to the US, they had the knowledge of gunpowder and guns. The Indians did not.

Although some would say it is an oxymoron there is much to be said for military intelligence.
In order to obtain secrecy, Julius Caesar had altered messages, a few letters off, sent to his generals who knew how to decipher them. What might have happened if Vercingetorix or Pompey cracked his codes.
The Battle of Midway ended the Japanese offensive in the Pacific during WWII. A major factor was our knowledge of where and when the attack would be. This is in contrast to Pearl Harbor where an hour into the battle, they were advised war was imminent.
Would we be in Iraq if we knew the status of Saddam's WMD's?
Note: I like Wikipedia, but it should not be used as a single source.

One example of how knowledge is power is in a conversation regarding a particular subject (religion or history). I could care less about dates and history. I may recall of a particular event but can't remember the facts. The person I am having the conversation with can easily persuade me to believe what he is saying because I have no knowledge on the subject. Because I have no knowledge, I have no power.
