I think, or certainly hope that no Muslim is foolish enough to harm the pope. If that would happen, I dare not imagine what the backlash would be.

On the basis that the Pope is probably

A) A good man
B) A very Good politician ( so is unlikely to make such a gaff)
c) A news worthy item to exploit

my guess is he has been quoted out of context and is trying to end the whole thing, unlike Salmon Rushdie who was doing it for commercial gain and to cause controversy.

I am not a catholic so this is not an automatic defense of the pontiff just an observation on the quiet news day lets create a story out of nothing and sell some articles.

In some bizarre way this was all planned out to happen this way. Call it;"The Matrix" I wouldn't go as far as to say that the Pope is possessed but if he was than so are all of these extremest reactive people. There are unseen forces at work that manipulate our actions. Logic dictates that what the Pope would have said would provoke the Muslims. Biblically Jesus spoke of the "Host" and the "Great Hosts" The pope in this regard was a host in order to provoke the Muslims. Get with the program, it's all a program. Here is one interesting site that might shed some light on this subject from one point of view.

The pope's remarks weren't even his; they were quoted from an emperor back in the 14th century. The muslim extremists probably used that as an excuse to bomb churches and further continue their 'jihad', rather than taking it for what it really is. Rather sickening, I'd say. I'd say that his apology was more of an appeasement; otherwise who knows how far the extremists would take their little tirade.

The damage is already done. The Pope quoted some 14th century Emperor. He chose not to take a position regarding whether or not he believed or supported what the Emperor said.
I tis all getting out of hand now.....apology or not.

Have you actually read what the Pope said?

Here is a link to the English translation of the Pope's controversial speech: http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/speeches/2006/september/documents/hf_ben-xvi_spe_20060912_university-regensburg_en.html

With love in Christ.

He didn't apologize to Muslims. He apologized for the reactions his remarks caused, but not actually for saying them. Get your facts straight.

no you moron it is because the point he was trying to make as usual was lost on the animals that have threatened now to kill him, he has now tried to simplify it to a level they will understand and hope that his position as head of the Catholic church makes a difference in trying to pacify them
