Shipping pies and ice cream, or keeping things VERY cold without getting them wet. Also used for special effects when placed in water.
Dry ice is actually frozen carbon dioxide (CO2), which is why you can't hold it in your bare hand without getting freezer-burned.

It's used to keep food very cold or frozen in shipment. If you ever bought ice cream from the guy who pushed a cart with bells on the handle, then dry ice was in the cart.

Dry ice is used to keep things cool. Often things that are shipped across the country may be packed in dry ice so it does not need to be kept in a refrigerated truck.

its good for keeping a keg cool. if your power goes out like in a hurricane ( i live in a hurricane affected area) you can put some in your freezer so food doesnt spoil. You can put some in a 2 liter bottle with a little water and close the cap and it will explode.. thats all my known uses for it.

It's used to preserve something for a long time. Don't ever touch it with your bare hand or your new name will be "Lefty".
