Please do not submit your work to poetry.com. It is just a scam-- they will publish ANYTHING as long as you can fork over the money to buy a copy of the "anthology" it is being printed in.

I'd actually suggest skipping the contests and submitting your work to real magazines, journals, and websites. Check out a copy of Writer's Market and see if you can find places that suit your work.

You should not have to pay to get your work published!

I don't know about all of them, but some of them are scams. They will publish anything and tell you you have talent. Then they will publish you in a real honest-toogoodness book. You will have an option to buy a copy. They will offer amenities to it and many things you can pay for. You are published but there isn't much distinctive about it.
