The lip piercing would be removed, and she would be grounded for a very, very long time. We just went through this with my oldest and her belly button being pierced. We told her no at first and gave her our reasons. She respected our wishes and did not do it. She waited until we gave the ok. Now, her father and I did not agree on the whole getting the bellybutton pierced. I was on the side that it would eventually not be a fad anymore and she would let it grow back and you would never be able to tell that it was there - that it wasn't a permanent thing. He was against it because he thinks they're trashy. Anyway, he finally conceeded. Had she snuck around behind our backs and done it anyway before getting our permission, she would have never been allowed to have it done. I feel the same way about a lip piercing though - that it is a fad that will eventually go away and it can grow back. What I would NOT like is the sneaking around and not telling me that she had done it. THAT'S what she would be grounded for.

I think nowadays people have way too much time to do these stuff.... I mean come on.. Be a natural person instead of piercing or tattoos all over the body...Do people actually think it is cool?? Espically with tattoo all over the body or piercing more than three holes... I get it with just one small tattoo or peircing in the ear but why in the eyebrow or nipple or lip or tongue...I will kill her

if my daughter was an adult I might try to talk to her about her decision. For example: Is she considering her how this may effect her later in life. If she plans to work in a record store as a career move great. If she plans on working in a higher paying legitimate business, it might hold her back.
If my daughter was under age, she'd never be able to hide it because I'd see it. I'd have her take out whatever adornment she place in it and let it heal. When she becomes an adult, and is capable of making a rational decision based on the ramifications of her choices, she can have at it.

I would be mad as hell. The rules in my house are no piercings or tattoos until they are on their own. I think it gives the wrong first impression.
Bottom line, I would tell my daughter that she is not to wear anything in that hole as long as she lives under my roof. If caught not following my rules, I'd ground her, and each time I caught her the grounding would be for a week longer.

How do you miss a pierced lip? I may kill my daughter. ok not kill. But I would ask why they did it. ALot of teens do this piercing thing and then at a certain age, they get over it. Now a pierced tongue would upset me alot more since this is a definate sign of sexual activity.

That would be a hard thing to hide and I'd punish her for going against house rules. When she is 18 and (and only if she is no longer living in my home)...she can do as she pleases, but not while I'm supporting her and paying her medical costs.

well I'm not a mother but i was just thinking today about how I'm gonna get my lip pierced.. i wanna get the snake bite thing.. its so awesome! but personally, i think a daughter should tell her parents about the piercing.. but i would do it after wards too cuz... parents suck lol... but that's just me.. but if i was a mom and my daughter did that, i would just think back to my younger years and how i did the same thing... and i would be a little upset but i wouldn't like jump down her throat right away cuz you have to be alittle understanding.. right? right.

How old?
Id be OK with it but itd have to come out for certain occasions where its not appropraite. However, I would be quite upset over a tattoo as that is permanant and a lip ring is easily removed. Kids like to express themselves, its just another accessory.

Let her do it. It's just an expression of herself. It's not like a tattoo, and when she grows up and realizes how stupid it is, she'll take it out herself. Or she'll be the "hippest" old lady. Just remind her, most employers don't allow facial piercings.
