it means GO AWAY. lol. i work at a music store, and i cant go more than a day or two without some kid picking up a guitar and playing it in the store. great tune, but i just cant deal when ppl come in and play that one.

cool song though, i dont think its meant to have a specific meaning, its a pretty vague set of lyrics that can be interpreted a lot of different ways.

To me personally I don't quite understand it lol, it makes more sense played reverse. But it is just an absolute masterpiece I will always love that song and the artwork for it too. Also, RIP
John Bonham, I'm sure he was the drummer in that song.

when Zep first played Stairway I don't remember much, I was out of my head on various substances, but as time went on, I got my act together and it became symbolic of my way out of depravity. I'm not in heaven yet but I'm on the stairway.

Unfortunately for me (cause it's a great song), it means bad guitarists in guitar shops.

I just heard a fantastic version by Rodrigo y Gabriela though. Challenge any bad (or good!) guitarist to play it.
