If a bullet was fired directly into the head, would you hear the gunfire before you die?

If a bullet was fired while the guns barrel is touching the face, and then fired, would you hear the gunfire before you die? Or would the bullet travel faster than sound into your head and kill you?

It depends on the bullet and the gun. Bullets can travel anywhere from 180 - 1500 m/s. The speed of sound is 340.29 m/s. It also depends on the time it takes the person to die after the bullet is fired.

I've never been shot in the head and I don't know anyone who has but I've always thought that you wouldn't hear it because the bullet travels faster than the speed of sound.

some bullet travel past the speed of sound and some do not. it depends on the type of bullet. no all bullets will penetrate the skull depending on the angle etc it's really a silly question.

If the bullet was fires at a distance grater that 340 m..then yes the person would hear the sounf...if less than 340m....too bad!!

you probably wouldn't hear it because a bullet travel around 800 m/s and sound travels at around 343 m/s.

I suspect you would hear it. You are not likely to die instantaneously, many people have survived gun shots to the head.

i feel before you react to the firing you would be dead and so you wouldn't hear the sound
