U borrow one of her rings when she's not wearing and have the jeweler check the size..for u..
Or u can ask possibly her mother if she knows what size ring she wears, tell the mother ur thinking of buying a ring for her for x mas or something and need to know what size to buy..
Or u mess with her hand one day , take off a ring she is wearing, and act like u want to see if it fits ur pinky, then u say "damn what size is this ring its so small" and see if she tells u.. but rememberrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr most peoples ring fingers are different sizes as with me my left hand ring finger is a half size smaller then my right hand ring finger.
If all else fails u just buy the ring, and have it resized after u give it to her to fit her finger

Heres what you do. Get a trash bag wire twisty thingee and walk into the room with it just kinda bending and twisting it out of boredom. Then sit next to her, on her left hand side while still bending it and whatever. Then look over at her and ask..."have you ever bent wire into different shapes like stick figures and stuff like that?". ok at this point shes either gonna say..."WTF did you smoke today?!?" or she'll say... "yeah, on rainy days me and my sister would do crafts with those different colored pipe cleaners and make stuff". Then tell her, "yeah I used to take paper clips and twist them around my pencil and stuff but I was never really the artsy fartsy type." Next, you reach over and pick up her left hand and tell her..."honey, your hands are so soft. I know... I know I suck at art but I can make you a little ring". Then proceed to gently shape the twisty around her finger snug but loose enough to take off. Then you hold up her hand and tell her how cute she is in her new twisty ring. She'll probably roll her eyes at you but deep down inside shes melting a bit you see. Then, you slowly take her ring off while saying..."your fingers are so tiny and cute, I bet I couldn't even fit this silly ring on my pinky." Put the ring on your pinky without saying anything, look at it for a sec, then set it down on the coffee table and get up asking her if she wants anything from the kitchen. Then come back, sit down and change the subject or turn the tv on and see whats on the line up for the evening. Then by the time the next commercial comes on she'll more than likely have to get up and go pee cuz chicks gotta pee alot. When she goes, put the ring in a place where you can grab it when you're ready to go get the ring.
Now thats how I'd do it.

Propose without a ring and have her go shopping with you later. That is what my husband did and I am very happy he did. His proposal was still very sweet and I got a ring that I liked. So many of my friends have engagement rings that are not necessarily their taste or what they would have chosen for themselves. They would never mention it to their fiances / spouses.

Does she have a ring already that you could sneak out and have it sized? Our try it in one of your fingers and see how far you can put it on and then go to a store and find one that fits about the same.

Try to get a ring of hers that you know fits the correct finger, and then trace the inside of the ring.

My fiancee tried one of my rings on his pinkie finger to see how it fit and then told the jeweler about what size he thought it should be! It worked - the ring fit and I was totally surprised.

I swiped one of the rings my wife was wearing the day before I purchased her engagement ring. The store was able to get a correct from this ring. It worked beautifully. Just don't get caught swiping her ring!!! :)

Ask someone like her mother, father, siblings, or best friends. They will be able to tell you or find out in a non suspicious way rather then you asking and ruining the surprise.
Best Wishes!
