They are gunna pay a little better than min wage. I worked there years ago. You get raises also. Some of them are based on certain things, like if you keep your items a minute up you get a $.25 raise and if you are a store worker and you are trained to run a register you get a $.25 cent raise. So my husband and I worked there the same amount of time, its where we met actually. But he started making $6.00 an hour while I started at $6.25. When he left he was still around $6.50 or maybe $7.00. Nothing more than that. I changed jobs a bit there and got raises each time so I left making $8.50 an hour. Granted this was like four or five years ago, so things would change. I would apply and ask. Working there wasn't bad, except that you don't really get a lot of weekends of holidays off. I would work on getting your resume up and apply at some smaller companies that maybe are just open Monday through Friday. They tend to pay better and its a better environment. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Wal-Mart does pay some positions just above minimum wage. Depending upon the position for which you are hired, you must likely will make at least $6.50 an hour.
Recently, The City of Chicago, Illinois passed an ordinance which required big box retailers such as Wal-Mart to pay a higher living wage. This has caused some controversy, but other cities are looking into passing similar ordinances to help retail workers be able to provide better for themselves and their families.

Because millions of people who can not afford to shop in more expensive stores buy stuff there. As for everyone in Germany belonging to a union, not true. In any case unions there are run very different from here. They have union reps and actual workers sit in on management meetings. If it becomes necessary to lay people off everyone knows the company has no choice and is not just doing it to increase profits.

i used to work at walmart. the pay depends on where you live and how many other walmarts are in the area and what type of position that you hire on as.
there are 5 walmarts within 25 minutes of my house and they all pay different for the same position.
in one store a deli associate will start at $8.00/hour, across town, might start at $8.50/hour, another may be more, may be less, but if you are in a major city like dallas/ft worth, then it would be easy to get $8.50/hour.
i do know tho, that in vegas, some walmart cashiers start out at $11.00/hour. my gripe is, if they can $11.00/hour for a cashier in vegas, they can pay $11.00/hour every where.
