If you are looking for a garage, the Butler garage on James between 1st and 2nd is the cheapest and safest in the area. Beware of open air lots. Many cars get broken into in Pioneer Square because they are out in the open and inviting prowlers to break in. I agree with the other responders that the BEST method is to take the bus because it is served by so many different lines.

Just as Seattlecutie said it may be better to take a bus down there. But if it were me I would want to see about how soon the buses run first thing in the morning from your area (if you take Metro) There is a gartage 5th & Main thats new. Can always check out the parking in the towers ( any of the major high-rise buildings have parking garages) & depending on your car there is allways the street parking & parking lots ( 6th & Yesler there are two lots that look like one- two blocs south is another at 6th & Washington)

Whatever you do, don't park in the triangular parking garage that hugs James, Yesler & 2nd Ave. I parked there for two weeks while temping in Pioneer Square and had my car urinated on at least twice.
My suggestion would be to pay for monthly parking somewhere if you are going to drive everyday and can afford to. I prefer a pay lot over a garage. Homeless people are everywhere in that area of town and unfortunately in the winter, many take shelter in the parking garages that are open.

I used to work on the corner of 1st & Yesler, in the same building as Starbucks, Subway & Cowchips (Hard to stay away from!!)
I was told by our CEO that it was best to park in a lot, because the parking garages in the area were not that secure. I usually parked on Occidental, near Soup Daddy's (great for lunch!). They have an early-bird special...in before 9am, you get a discounted price. The police frequent the area, so there is less risk of something happening to your vehicle if it's out in the open.
I don't know where you live, but I also found it fairly easy to ride the bus to work. There are many express buses that leave from 3rd ave., just up the hill. It used to take about 20 minutes for me to get to work on the bus from Greenlake.
Have fun working downtown...I loved it!

Don't worry about parking... just worry when your driving on Hwy 5.... I think they all learned how to drive bumper to bumper in bumper cars.
