I am a math Teacher!..
and I try to get my students to get as much done in my classroom as possible.
however, there are times when they need more work. meaning, their understanding is still a bit shaky.. which means, doing more guieded problems in the classroom, followed with similar practice at home.
but, many students don't bother to do their homework.
there is nothing more frustrating for a teacher than to hear, "I din't know there was homework", or "I left it in my book at home", or worse, I left it in my friends locker, and my friend is not here today, and I don't know the combination"..
that is most frustrating.
so, stop whinning about your homework, and go do it!.....
actually, most students spend more time whinning about how much hw they have, then it takes to do one assingment...
twenty math problems per night is not very much hw to give. others I know give as many as 30 to 50 problems per night..
most successful students do their work, and don't whine about it.
many times, students do not understand their homework is because they do not pay much attention in class, or they don't bother taking notes, assuming they understand. that lead to a false sense of understanding. sure, its easy when the teachers do it on the board, but how long will students retain that?.. all of 30 minutes, then what do they have to fall back on?.. no notes!..
and, yes, our classess are the most important.... ;). thank you...

In my opinion if you are doing homework all weekend it is time for your parents to contact the school and speak to them about it.

Well, if you are in honors and AP classes, you should expect this much homework normally.
If the homework is busywork that doesn't help you to understand the topic better, then it shouldn't be assigned.

I agree!!!! I think every teacher thinks of it like their class is the only class. And that we don't have lives because after all we're only students. Yea....a lot of my teachers are pretty ignorant
