I would get at least 1 GB. I've had friends unable to save their papers, etc., because they had run out of room on a flash drive with a smaller memory.

Good luck--I've been thinking of getting one, too, but so far just emailing stuff back and forth to myself has worked fine. ^_~

An USB port is a port you find on any modern day motherboard and where you connect certain hw devices (printers, webcams, etc). Be a little more specific. Did you mean portable HDD ? If it's a portable HDD you're after go for Western Digital/Seagate. How many Gb's it's up to you.

think you need to try again.... a usb port if for transferring data not storage. you could use a flash drive that hooks into a usb port for storage or a external hard drive which also hooks in a usb port as far as size that will depend on how much you want to store on it .flash I think will only go about 1 gig external hard drive is up to 250 gig

I'd say a 1Gb (thumb drive,flash drive)
would be large enough. I was a student and they worked fine for me. You can actually get quite a bit of info on this. I have 3 and I have yet to fill one up, and one has games that I downloaded. Check best buy they have a 1Gb 24.99 after rebate. I also have one from wal-mart...Good Luck
