I was wondering how to find hidden files on a computer without the other person knowing. I came across a few things and now I'm wondering what else there is I haven't seen, without them knowing.

Go to Windows Explorer, open it up, click on Tools, then click on Folder Options, then click on View, then go down and find where it says, Show Hidden Folders and files and check that box, then click Apply, and then click okay.
Go look at what you want to see, and then make sure you go back and change it back.
Another alternative would be to do a wildcard search, and click on Search Hidden files and folders, and then, when they come up, they should look like they're faded, and you'll know that those are hidden.. However, make sure that you're not misunderstanding the difference between intentionally dl'ed files and cookies which can also appear to be hidden.

Most files are either hidden or unhidden.

Most hidden files are Windows files that you shouldn't mess with, as they are the files that run Windows.

Depending which Windows you have, how much admin rights you have depends on how much and which folders can be unhidden.

To hide a folder or file, go to the source the file is stored (such as My documents), right click and click on Properties.

At the bottom of the dialogue box that opens gives you several choices, including to hide that file or folder.
