Does anyone know why Ken Stott has taken over as Rebus from John Hannah?

Ian Rankin had supported John but I don't know why Stott replaced him. I think Hannah was better and that's who I think of when I think of Rebus.

It's still good though but I preferred John Hannah and did the makers think that nobody would notice.
