Seismology (from the Greek seismos = earthquake and logos = word) is the scientific study of earthquakes and the movement of waves through the Earth. The field also includes studies of variants such as seaquakes. A related field is paleoseismology.

Actually it is geology. Seismologists are geologists that specialize in seismology, or the study or earthquakes. Some structural geologists also study earthquakes, along with faults and folding, etc.
