I want to build my own computer, and I recently passed an A+ certification course...so there's no problem there.

The problem lies here...

www.tigerdirect.ca

I can't find a singe motherboard that will match with the back of a case. That is fit, cause you know the stuff on the back of board has to meet up with the holes on the back of the case.

All the motherboards have their USB ports on the bottom, just above the speaker/mic ports. All the cases, however, have the USB port 'holes' just below the Ps2 ports at the very top of the case.

It's a little frustrating going through all the products, trying to find a match...so is it possible remove that backing on the case, so that I can just fit the motherboard in?

It's wierd, cause they're selling premade start up kits...which of course are cheap trash...but they're using the products on the site...those motherboards and cases I talked about earlier.

I ran out of space...when I said 'they're' I was referring to the people running tigerdirect.

So tigerdirect is using what seems to be uncompatible parts to build startup kits...unless the back of the case can be ripped off to allow for any m/b. That is my main question....

Is it possible to rip off the backing of the case to allow for any m/b to fit?

tigerdirect.ca is a joke try fwww.factorydirect.ca next time but you should be able to just remove the little peice of thin metal from the back were there keyboard and mouse ar it should just rip out. an d if that doesnt work go back to tigerdirect and tell them that they sold you a kit that doesnt work and they have to honor the fact that its a "starter kit" which is supposed to allow you to start a computer of your own
All the best and good luck if you have further questions my email is petervelenosi@hotmail.com

Please check your case. The area of the case where the usb/sound/nic/parallel prots etc come through is usually removeable. This is because motherboards have different arrangements of ports. When you by a motherboard it will come with replace inserts that go with the motherboard and will replace the one currently in your case.

Your only concern is whether or not your case is ATX mATx or the newer BTX form factor. you should also make sure your power supply is sufficient for your needs.

Good Luck

Usually motherboards include the back panel for the area you are talking about. And most cases will let you remove that area, so you can replace the panel with the one you got with the motherboard. You may have to pry just a bit, but it will usually snap off.

Those faceplates are replaceable. Each motherboard has its own so when you buy the mobo you will get a matching faceplace. You just take the one off that came with the case and replace it with the mobo one.

most of the time they will send you a new slot skin you just take out the old one and put the new one in and it will all line up i have done this many times. the slot skin is made to your new motherboard specs and in a white-box case (generic case) the skin are interchangeable
