I graduated 2 years ago and moved to another city where it took me 10 months to find a job. Now i work as tech support in a good company but everyone around me has an MIS degree or other degree...i feel like i could probably do better than now. I am not making as much as I think I should get. I do not like programming as much.Which other jobs should I look at, or what other certifications should i do to improve my marketability. I was an honors student in my school.

Here's the thing: are you good at what you do? Also, where do you live? Are you willing to relocate?

Being honors student doesn't mean anything at this stage, because you are not a direct hire out of school. Once you have worked nobody gives a crap about your GPA (nobody has asked me my GPA since I graduated in 1995). All they care is that you have a degree in a relevant field and that you have the skills and experience needed for the job.

Also, you need to revise your expectations. You cannot compare your salary to your peers unless they are in the exact situation as you are. That is, same education, time in the job, experience, output, skills, etc.

Don't even bother looking at certifications, you have basic issues to deal with before you even deal with certifications. Certifications mean training, which costs time and money and are no warranty that you will do better when switching jobs.

If it took you that long to find your first job, you may be looking in the wrong areas. Try another city or region of the state that your in. I'm in a location now that is very stagnant on jobs as well, that is why everybody works in another region of the state. I'm thoroughly surprised that you can't find work with a B.S.
