I've been wondering. Salt and lemon juice would normally make a wound sting. But why does it help heal the wound? Could it be that the pain stimulates the tissue and blood to heal faster or is there something in the two that heals the wounds?

both have actually worked before, but not together. They did sting a lot, but they did help heal the opening.

Yes they do, salt alone is a drying agent it's widely used for preserving food from bacteria and decaying, because of its' properties if apply on wound,it would naturally helps to disinfect and stop bleeding. The stinging pain one has is because it kill some tissue and cells in the process of dry healing. Lime juice on the other hand (with it acidity) work pretty much like a cleansing agent (like detergent) it removed impurities, germs and other stain when applied but OUCH!! why do one have to resort to such painful means of healing. I wouldn't recommend mixing both or either because it's messy and not properly sterilize may complicates simple wound. If you really want the convention style try the cowboy way, open a bottle of Tequila, shoot down afew quick shots and spit some on the wound..

I don't think that the salt and lemon juice help the wound to heal so much as that they act as disinfectants. The acid in the lemon and the salt itself act to prevent infection.

The acidity of the lemon acts as a cauterizer. I've never heard of salt actually assisting in the healing of a wound. Sorry.

The acid in both substances kill Germs, bacteria growing in the would can cause infection, infection can cause death. However, using these two items you also kill skin/tissue cells and that is BAD, (alcohol does this as well). If it is a large wound, see a doctor. If not, Colloidal Silver kills all germs/bacteria and viruses, and has no side affects and no evil organism can mutate to protect itself. You can drink it or use it topically. It can be inexpensive too, I go through a great local company that sells my natural supplements to me, id be happy to give you their website if you email me!

What makes you think it does?

Perhaps if it does, it's because it hurts so much that the wound heals out of fear.

Oooo sounds painful!

My guess is that you'd end up burning yourself with that stuff! It may appear to heal faster but it's frying your skin in actuality!
