I enjoyed most of this movie,but didn't understand the ending.Were Sharon and her mother dead?Or were they stuck in some sort of alternate reality?

You dead on, (Applause...) Sharon and Rose were not dead but yes, they were stuck in an alternate reality... When a person goes into Silent hill, they have, in a way, a link to Alessa Gillespie. Her mother Dahlia Gillespie, stated that you will forever wander in the quagmire, or chaos of what Alessa has manifested. (Silent Hill 1)

I tried to play Silent Hill 2 the game, and don't worry, I don't think the whole idea is supposed to make sense, really.

SHE BASICALLY GAVE UP HER LIFE TO BE WITH HER DAUGHTER SHE WAS ALREADY GONE IT WAS DEEP BUT I WAS MAD AT AL THE RUNNING AROUND WITH SIRENS AND ISH...BUT THE TOWN WAS DEAD ALL IN IT WERE LIVING A FAKE EXISTENCES
