I wanna be a pin-up girl for Halloween. I know what they look like and all but what exactly does pin-up girl mean??

Pin-Up girl is a term that came from the 40's during the war years. Porn was available but frowned upon and nudity was considered porn and unacceptable as well. However, with all the guys overseas hungering for the appeal of the free-spirited american woman there left a huge space to be filled. Young ladies posed in sheer or scant clothing that displayed their figure but not to the extent to be considered nude and certainly not porn. These photos were generally placed in magazines that were distributed to the men over seas and were on the 'centerfolds' or larger folds with in the magazine. The men would pull these photos out and put them up on their bulleting boards, lockers, walls of tanks and airplanes and generally any where they spent their time. Since most were put on bulletin boards or wooden walls they were held up by Pins. Thus the term 'Pin Up'.
While some considered the Pin-Up girls to be in bad taste, it was generally recongized that they were a strong moral booster to the men overseas.

A pin up girl is a term from the 40s and 50s when men's magazines like Playboy had fold out posters of the girls. Guys would then take out the posters and pin them up on the wall - hence the name 'pin up girl'. It's basically the same thing as a centerfold girl - a sexy chick that guys can put on the wall of their room or shop or barracks or whatever.

Yeah that's right. Pin-up girls are so pretty that men like to hang your picture on their wall for decoration. Pins were most often used because one could easily remove an old picture and hang a new picture in its place. Thus the phrase 'Pin-up'. Pin-up girls are usually wearing a skimpy bikini or are bare naked.

I would think twice before getting a tattoo because there is a stigma attached to them, and many people (of both sexes) have a strong dislike for people who have them. Many employers will not hire you is one is visible. If you really want one that bad, then I would suggest getting it where it will not be seen, such as somewhere that can be hidden by your underwear. If gotten elsewhere, it can be seen, and that may not be a good thing in many cases. It all depends on how you personally feel about that. Like if you got one on the small of your back, then it can be seen when wearing tops that bare the midriff, and also when wearing a bikini. Just make sure you really want this before doing it. Once you have it, its a permanent thing.

a pin up girl is a name given to the calendar models of the early 40s and into the 50s. People would pin the calendars to the walls. Given the name Pinup. They were usually scantly clothed. Not always naked.
If you are wanting to be one...go look up Betty Page. The quintessential Pinup girl.

During WWII the guys used to pin up posters and pics of their girls or a good looking girl and it kind of took their minds off of the impening doom of war for a sec or two and made them feel a bit more at home.

way back in the day (the 30's & 40's) there were magz that would include a centerfold of some hot babe. she wore a huge one piece bathing suit. the guys at car shops, steel mills and other male dominated occupations would hang the centerfold. this was long before Playboy, Penthouse and hustler. now a pin-up can be full nudity.

they call them Pin-Up girls because they are photos of girl that guys used to "pin-up" on their walls and such...pin-up girls are models that would dress sexc and be photographes and their photos would be pinned0-up for instance..Marilyn Monroe was one of the most famous pin-ups of all time
