No one can give you an idea to write your book. Start with what you know and fictionalize it. If you can't even come up with a basic thought, you are not ready to write.

Try to come up with a main character for your story. Write down a description - male, female, eye color, etc. etc.
Then take this character and imagine then in some odd place or scenario – anything goes! Write down ideas on what would have to happen to your character or how they would react to the scenario you placed them in.
You can do this for multiple characters if you like.
This may seem futile, but it will help you flesh out some characters and give you insight into what you may want to happen to this type of character in a potential story. You may even come up with multiple story lines!
Strong well crafted main characters can inspire readers to love your story as well as drive you to write a great story for these imagined beings so be in! :-)

Fiction or non-fiction?
If fiction:
1. Imagine your character wakes up, he is soaked in blood but is not hurt. He hears police sirens and somebody knocking on his door. Take it from there.
2. Your character sees something he shouldn't have, now is being chased down to silence him.
3. Your character does absolutely nothing remarkable. He just wakes up, breakfast, work, lunch, more work, dinner, tv, go to sleep. On and on. This one will drive people crazy expecting some kind of a plot to develop.
4. Two main characters, living in parallel and never quite running into each other.
5. Your character enlists in the Army after being promised a technical job. He flunks out and is sent to the infantry.
6. Your character is a writer with writer's block. Many famous writers have done this, Stephen King did it with Bag of Bones and was quite good.

I didn't write a book yet but I have written several Christmas plays. Think about different events that have happened in your life or someone elses life or about something you have always wanted to happen in your life. Even if you don't write it exactly as it happened, you can add your own ideas.

They say to always write about something you know about or that really interests you. Then your thoughts and ideas will flow much easier. Make a list of things you like and even dislike for that matter. The two may even intertwine with one another when you come up with your topic.

If you have nothing to write about, then you're not ready to write a book.

Keep it simple and start with a short story or article.
Is there a story that you keep on telling to your friends, or that you and your family tell each other over and over again? Write that story!
Is there something that you fantasize about? Write that story!
Has somebody made a deep impression on your life? Write about him or her!
